Florida Man Assaults Semi Truck, Goes for 9-Mile Ride On Its Hood

Picture this: you’re driving up Florida’s Turnpike on a beautiful Saturday afternoon when you see a man walking down the center divider of the freeway. Seems normal enough, right? Maybe his car broke down and he’s just hoofing it to the nearest exit. Traffic slows just so that no one hits the man who is now walking across the highway when, out of absolutely nowhere, that man jumps onto the hood of a semi truck and starts punching the windshield, injuring and bloodying himself in the process. Next the semi truck, instead of stopping, carries the man up the freeway for another nine miles until an officer takes notice, stops the altercation, and detains the man clinging to the hood.

That sounds absurd or made up, but it is exactly what happened this past Saturday in Palm Beach County, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, after his little joyride, the man was taken into custody and moved to Wellington Regional Hospital for a 72-hour evaluation. The video above (which is slightly profane and NSFW) shows the man clinging to the front of the ABF freight-hauling semi, trying to break into its cab as it bucks and weaves across the highway in an attempt to fling him off.

But the strangest thing about this incident might not be the incident itself. Instead, it might just be the fact that, according to Florida Highway Patrol, no charges are being filed as of this writing. For anyone involved. Really.

Florida Highway Patrol also noted that the case is still pending investigation, so the man seen in this video may eventually face charges for his unconventional actions on Saturday. Either way, it’s safe to say the “Florida Man” headline grab remains still alive and well.
