Harley-Davidson S2 Del Mar electric bike unveiled

The S2 Del Mar is said to offer a range of 160 km on a single charge.

Harley-Davidson has unveiled its most affordable electric motorcycle under its LiveWire sub-brand. The S2 Del Mar LE (Launch Edition) is priced at US$ 17,699.

The S2 Del Mar is based on the brand’s new S2 Arrow architecture. It combines the electric motor, battery pack and electronics into a single unit, which also forms the chassis of the bike.

While Harley-Davidson is yet to reveal the detailed specs of the bike, the electric motor is expected to have an output of around 80 BHP, which makes it more powerful than the LiveWire One. The bike is 25% lighter and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. The onboard battery is said to offer a maximum range of 160 km on a single charge.

The S2 Del Mar comes with built-in GPS and supports over-the-air updates. It is compatible with Level-1 and Level-2 charging but doesn’t support fast charging.
