India to be an export hub for Kia Carens

20% of the production of the Carens from the India plant will be exported.

Last week, Kia revealed the Carens 7-seater in India. It will be manufactured at the company’s Anantapur facility, which will also serve as a manufacturing hub for global markets.

According to Tae-Jin Park, MD & CEO, Kia India, 20% of the production of the Carens from the India plant will be exported. The car will be exported to both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive markets. He also added that the Carens will be exclusively produced in India.

Kia’s Anantapur plant has an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 units. The plant’s full capacity will be utilized with the introduction of the Carens. It will also help the company achieve economies of scale.

Kia expects the Anantapur factory to reach its peak production capacity next year. It will be increased to 4,00,000 units once the plant starts operating at full capacity.
