Jeep Teases a Couple of Its 2019 Easter Safari Concepts

Every year, Jeep and Mopar build a handful of cool concepts to take to Moab, Utah, for the off-road celebration that is the Easter Jeep Safari. Last year brought seven concepts, including a Baja-inspired Wrangler with a short pickup bed, a rebuilt 1965 Wagoneer, and a modern take on the Jeepster formula. Jeep still hasn’t announced how many concepts it will bring to this year’s Safari, but these two teasers definitely have our attention.

With the Gladiator pickup truck finally heading out in the wild, it was an easy assumption that Jeep would build one—at minimum—for the 2019 Easter Safari. And while one of the images Jeep just released shows very little, it’s clearly a Gladiator. In addition to its yellow and white color scheme, you can see a rack mounted in the rear, as well as what appears to either be a set of MaxTrax-like traction boards or some sort of bed ramp. It wouldn’t surprise us if Jeep also added a lift kit, more off-road equipment, and a Hellcat V-8.

But the more interesting teaser is the one shown at the top of this post. We’re pretty sure this one started life as a Wrangler, and from this angle, you can see it has big off-road tires, rock rails, and auxiliary lights. It also clearly wears a “J6” badge that strongly suggests we’re looking at a modern interpretation of the long-wheelbase CJ-6 that Jeep sold from 1955 through 1975. As cool as last year’s Jeepster concept was, we have high hopes for this CJ-6 concept.

The good news is we won’t have to wait long to see all of the 2019 Easter Jeep Safari concepts—look for more on the newest builds very soon.
