The XUV400 competes with the Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV and the Kona Electric.
Mahindra has announced the launch of the all-electric XUV400. The new EV is available in two variants: EC and EL, priced from Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The XUV400 measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The electric SUV shares its body shell with the XUV300. However, the front grille has been blanked off on the EV. It is flanked by LED headlamps that have integrated LED daytime running lights. Also unique to the XUV400 are the copper accents, the copper twin peaks logo and the copper roof.
Inside, the XUV400 comes equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering more than 60 connected car features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic headlamps and wipers, electric ORVMs and an electric sunroof. The car also offers smart watch connectivity and supports OTA updates.
The XUV400 uses an electric motor that produces 148 BHP and 310 Nm. It comes with three drive modes tuned for steering, throttle response and regeneration. Mahindra claims it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.
Mahindra is offering two battery options. The EC variant comes with a 34.5 kWh battery pack offering a range of 375 km (MIDC), while the EL variant packs a 39.4 kWh battery offers a claimed range of 456 km (MIDC). The battery can be charged from 0-80% in 50 mins using a DC fast charger.

- EC 3.3 kW – Rs. 15.99 lakh
- EC 7.2 kW – Rs. 16.49 lakh
- EL 7.2 kW – Rs. 18.99 lakh
These are introductory prices, which will be applicable on the first 5,000 bookings of each variant. Bookings will open on January 26, while deliveries of the EL variant will commence in March 2023, followed by the EC variant during Diwali.
