More images: WagonR-based Toyota hatchback is an EV

The test mule doesn’t have an exhaust, which confirms that it’s an electric car.

Toyota’s re-badged Maruti WagonR was caught on video yesterday. Now, new images have surfaced online that confirm that it is actually an electric car.

The re-badged Maruti WagonR EV has a front fascia that looks consistent with modern electric cars with minimal vents and grilles. It has stacked headlamp clusters with slim turn indicators positioned on top.

At the rear, the car gets smoked tail lamp clusters and a reworked bumper that has vertical reflectors on either end. In one of the images, you can clearly see that the car doesn’t have an exhaust, which confirms that it’s an EV.

In 2018, Maruti Suzuki had built 50 prototypes of the WagonR EV. Those cars were powered by a 72 V electric drive connected to a 10-25 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. We still don’t have the exact details of the electric powertrain that’s under this re-badged WagonR EV.
