Porsche Plans Cunning Strategy to Offset its Carbon Footprint

Porsche is letting drivers enjoy their cars with a little less footprint. A new program will make all of Porsche North America’s experience cars, and those in its monthly subscription service, carbon neutral.

Combine the Porsche Experience Centres in Atlanta and LA, along with Porsche Drive short term rentals and the Porsche Passport subscription service and you’re talking 3.5 million miles a year. That’s before the planned Experience Centres expansion to four more markets.

The Porsche Impact program lets owners calculate their emissions and then offset them through environmentally friendly projects. The corporate fleet will be enrolled in the program, which will soon also be offered to customers looking to lower their CO2 footprint.

“At Porsche, we are continually focused on innovative and sustainable business practices,” said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA. “Porsche Impact is another way for us and our customers to help offset carbon emissions as part of our goal to become the most sustainable premium sports car manufacturer in the world.”

The program will roll out to customers later this year, allowing owners to pick from four different projects including forest protection in the US and solar energy in Mexico.

Porsche Impact has been available in a pilot to customers in Germany, the UK, and Poland since late last year.
