Porsche's 70th anniversary auction is an enthusiast's dream

Porsche’s platinum anniversary has been a hell of a party. The company has commemorated its 70th year by breaking track records around the globe, holding numerous enthusiast events like Rennsport Reunion VI and announcing new versions of the iconic 935 and 911 Speedster.

If that wasn’t enough, the company has partnered with RM Sotheby’s to host a 70th-anniversary auction extravaganza at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta. The auction will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 and feature 70 examples of breathtakingly cool 911s and 356s, as well as supercars like the 959, Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. There are also some absolutely ridiculous racing machines crossing the block, including a 1975 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 once owned by Paul Newman, one of the Rothmans-liveried 1985 Porsche 959s that competed in the Paris-Dakar Rally and a 1983 956 Group C with Le Mans and Can-Am history.

The auction isn’t all seven-figure sports cars, though. There are several pristine 914s, 944s, 928s and what might be the cleanest 924 you’ll ever find. There’s even a diesel tractor that you could enter in the next tractor race at Rennsport.
