Production Atlas Cross Sport Photos Leak

It’s been a bad week for VW’s secrets department but this time the leak is of a production version of the Atlas Cross Sport.

Or Teramont coupe, I suppose, since that’s what they call the Atlas in China, where these photos appear to have originated. The photo shows a coupefied SUV that looks about like what you’d expect, but I mean that in a good way because I actually think it’s pretty attractive.

It should be said, here, that while Chattanooga supplies most of the world with Atlases, China makes its own. So it’s not 100% certain (even if this photo is legit) that this is the Atlas Cross Sport and not mildly different China-only Teramont variant.

But also, come on. This is pretty much what it’s gonna look like. It’s not like they’re going to reinvent the wheel, but there might some mild trim changes from market to market.

The Atlas Cross Sport, unlike the Teramont Coupe (or whatever they decide to call it there), will be built in Chattanooga alongside the standard Atlas and the Passat.

First unveiled at the New York Auto Show last year, the Cross Sport is part of a long-standing VW plan to get more SUVs onto the US market. Volkswagen’s new North American CEO, Scott Keogh, confirmed the Cross Sport’s name at the LA Auto Show last month and also confirmed that another, smaller SUV variant (likely based on the Tiguan) would follow.
