The Tata Punch CNG will compete with the Hyundai Exter, which also comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
According to a media report, Tata Motors will soon launch the Punch CNG in the Indian market. It is said that production of the CNG version is already underway.
The Punch CNG will be Tata’s fourth CNG model after the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. It will compete with the recently launched Hyundai Exter, which is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The Punch CNG will also feature Tata’s dual-cylinder CNG technology with two smaller CNG tanks of 30 litres each. It allows the tanks to be fitted in the boot floor, which helps free up a lot of luggage space.
The Punch CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It puts out 76 BHP and 97 Nm in CNG mode. When running on petrol, the engine produces 84 BHP and 113 Nm.
The Punch CNG is likely to be offered in multiple trims, details of which, will be revealed closer to launch.
