This Teeny-Wheel Hummer Is Worth at Least One Solid Chortle

I’m not saying this Hummer H2 riding on 13-inch wheels is a total side-splitter, but there’s something inherently funny about taking one of the most self-consciously macho vehicles ever built and slapping on teeny-tiny little wheels. It’s worth, at the very least, one (1) moderate chortle. These days, I’ll take it!

This low-utility vehicle is the work of Russian YouTuber Garage 54, who has brought us hits like “Replacing brake pads with iPhones” and “25000 rubber bands instead of a tire.” The awkward English voice-over adds to the series’ janky charm.

Sets of crispy Daytons being in short supply in Russia, the wheels come courtesy of a Lada, and they’ve been heavily modified to fit on the honkin’ American SUV’s hubs. One of the funniest things about this whole situation is that the H2’s wheels weren’t exactly huge to begin with, at least by today’s standards. Built for the 2003-2009 model years, the H2 came from the factory with 17-inch rims. The wheel wars have escalated substantially in the intervening decade-plus; you can get a Honda Pilot with 20-inch wheels these days (though to be fair, the Hummer packed a lot of sidewall).

Garage 54’s hippo-on-roller skates H2 is, if nothing else, a worthy adversary—or partner in crime—for that wagon wheel-equipped H3 that’s been floating around the internet for years:
