Alfa Romeo will make a presentation of its 2021 challenger on February 22 in Warsaw, Poland, according to reports.
The Spanish arm of Motorsport.com state that February 22 will be the date when Alfa Romeo give us the first sighting of their car to contest the 2021 campaign.
The reveal is going to take place in the Polish city of Warsaw, which is not a huge surprise considering Alfa Romeo’s title sponsor is Orlen, also the main sponsor of their 2020 reserve driver Robert Kubica.
Alfa Romeo are one of a limited number of teams expected to present their 2021 challengers before the beginning of pre-season testing, largely due to the global travel restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alfa Romeo will be hoping that their 2021 car proves to be an upgrade on last year’s efforts, even if teams are limited in the changes they can make between the seasons due to the FIA freeze on chassis development.
In 2020 Alfa Romeo scored only eight points, a sharp drop from their total of 57 in the 2019 campaign.
But, the fact that the team retained Alfa Romeo’s backing for 2021 was a “crucial” factor in itself if the team is to start climbing the Formula 1 ladder once again.
“This is crucial for us,” Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur previously told told Motorsport.com.
“I don’t want to talk about the financial side of the matter, although it certainly plays a role. But it’s also the motivation that a team gets and the fact you can attract more people and let the company develop for the future. We need this kind of internal motivation.
“The fact that Alfa Romeo, the first World Champion in F1 history, wants to expand co-operation with us is not only a reward, but also the next step for our company.”

Alfa Romeo have retained the same driver line-up for a third consecutive season in the form of Italian racer Antonio Giovinazzi and 2007 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen for 2021.
The pair were pretty evenly matched in 2020, each contributing four points to Alfa Romeo’s total.
