Another Virtual GP, another Norris disaster

Lando Norris just can’t catch a break in the Virtual Grand Prix series after yet another early exit from the race.

The McLaren driver has only been able to complete one race so far after suffering from various technical gremlins…and they returned for the latest round at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Norris felt he was on his way to a pole lap before he was slapped with a five-place grid penalty for a collision with Charles Leclerc and then suffered a wifi drop-out which booted him out of the session.

He was able to get an invite to rejoin the grid just ahead of the race but, starting from P13, Norris was soon a distant last and subsequently left the session after only a few laps.

Given his success since joining the virtual IndyCar series, perhaps we will see Norris give the Virtual GPs a miss in future and join the likes of Max Verstappen in sticking exclusively to the iRacing platform.

One prominent suggestion, both on Twitter and Lando’s Twitch channel, is that he may need to take a little break from streaming all together and recharge the batteries given how much he has been online during the lockdown period and how much the spotlight has been on him since the high-profile incident involving Simon Pagenaud.

Death.
Taxes.
