Charles Leclerc 'very happy' as Arthur shines at Imola | F1 News by PlanetF1

Charles Leclerc said he was “very happy” with the performance of his younger brother Arthur in his latest event.

Arthur Leclerc was competing in the latest round of the Formula Regional European Championship as a part of the Prema team, the outfit which took Charles to the 2017 Formula 2 Championship.

Arthur, a Ferrari Driver Academy member, was in fine form at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, finishing P3 in his opening race before bouncing back from a retirement to take P2 in the third and final round of the race weekend.

That means that heading into the season-finale at the Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi Arthur remains locked in a battle with Gianluca Petecof and Oliver Rasmussen for the title.

Arthur has six wins and a further nine podiums to his name this season, leaving him P2 in the standings with 335 points, just two behind Petecof who leads the way.

Charles was in attendance at Imola and said he was “very happy” with his brother’s performance.

“I like to stay on the side of the track, not disturbing too much with the work but surely it is more stressing for me to be outside the track, looking at my younger brother!,” he told reporters.

“But very happy with the job he has done today!

“Now everything will be all to play for in Vallelunga. I wish him the best!”

Arthur became a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy this year and previously said it’s a “dream come true” to be working with the legendary Italian outfit.

“[I learn] a lot, from the physics of the tyres to the techniques, very useful things,” he told Corriere Della Sera.

“If you understand how tyres are made and how they behave then you can improve race management. And then in addition to Italian, they also teach me physical preparation.

“[It is] a dream come true. I never expected it to happen.”

Charles has a battle of his own to tend to in Formula 1, that being the fierce race for P4 in the Drivers’ Championship.

Racing Point’s Sergio Perez currently holds the advantage with 100 points, but Leclerc is only three points shy of the Mexican in P5.
