IndyCar TrackPass Content Moving to Peacock This Season

IndyCar’s digital streaming content will move to the Peacock subscription service this year.

The new policy was first delivered to NBC Sports Gold IndyCar subscribers on Monday morning.

“We want you to hear it from us first: The IndyCar Pass content moves to Peacock Premium this season. Catch practices and qualifying LIVE. You can also stream hundreds of movies and thousands of episodes all in one subscription.

“Due to this platform change, we will not auto-renew your NBC Sports Gold subscription. You will continue to have access to IndyCar replays on NBC Sports Gold through January 31, 2021.”

In other words, what was once provided for $49.99 via NBC Sports Gold will be included for either $4.99 per month with commercials or commercial free at $9.99. Peacock is also the streaming home to a variety of televised content.

The decision came after NBC and World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed that the WWE Network would be folded into the same Peacock subscription platform.

“Peacock Premium will offer NTT IndyCar Series fans in-demand track action at tremendous value,” said Penske Entertainment Corp. President & CEO Mark Miles. “Alongside NBC Sports, we’re providing comprehensive coverage of practice and qualifications throughout our season, while also connecting to a larger platform with a world-class roster of programming.”

Digital content includes the entire month of May, Indianapolis 500 qualifications and the entire Indy Lights season.

NBC Sports Network will be shuttered by the end of the year. Currently, nine IndyCar races are scheduled to air on broadcast NBC this season. The remaining six races are currently scheduled to air on NBCSN.

IndyCar races are not expected to move to Peacock this season. IndyCar’s current television agreement with NBC runs through the end of this season. Both sides are expected to negotiate a possible extension, but IndyCar has been granted permission to begin exploratory conversations with other interested parties.
