Listen to This 510-HP Toyota V-8 Rev to 8100 RPM

Toyota’s 1UZ-FE V-8 engine is famous for its stout reliability and relative cheapness. Found in the first-gen Lexus LS400, you often see them powering drift cars or road racers. This one’s been modified by engine builder Tom Hughes for circle track use in New Zealand, and it sounds great.

Hughes has converted the engine to run on a carburetor, and it’s now capable of over 500 horsepower, and a redline over 8000 rpm. Watch as it gets pushed to the limit on a dyno.
