Nico Rosberg roasts Sebastian Vettel for Bahrain spin

2016 World Champion Nico Rosberg has lashed out at Sebastian Vettel after he spun fighting Lewis Hamilton in Bahrain.

The four-time World Champion was coming under heavy pressure from rival Hamilton on lap 39 when he spun the Ferrari under acceleration out of turn 3.

The damage to his tyres would cause the front wing to explode in emphatic fashion, with the German eventually able to recover to claim P5.

It was a woeful Sunday for Ferrari as Charles Leclerc lost what looked like certain victory after a reported MGU-H failure, allowing Mercedes to come through and claim a 1-2 finish.

Sebastian Vettel on team radio: "Sorry guys, it was my mistake. I got surprised and lost the rear. Really sorry. I am really sorry for Charles, please tell him he drove an excellent race and he should have won it." #BahrainGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/fMND9luFWQ

Now, Rosberg has fired further negativity at the Scuderia.

“I can’t believe that we’ve seen exactly the same Sebastian Vettel today as we’ve seen throughout the past year,” he said during Sky Sports’ coverage of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

“First of all the team messes up the strategy and he gets angry, then comes the race day, one wheel-to-wheel battle and he spins it away completely on his own and loses the full weekend.

“He needs to find a way out of that now.

“Not only did he ruin his own race, but he has a team-mate who been delivering unbelievably well all weekend and was so strong, and we should all expect it to continue like that.

“So Sebastian still has a battle on his hands.”

Vettel will now be left to recover from this familiar position, after he suffered various high-profile driver errors during the 2018 title fight.
