'Patient' Robert Kubica admits future is uncertain

Robert Kubica admits he is not yet sure what he will do next season, but is adamant he will do something that brings him “the most joy”.

Eight years after he suffered career-threatening injuries during a near-fatal rallying crash, the Pole made a fairytale return to F1 as he was handed a full-time racing seat by Williams for the 2019 season.

However, things have not gone according to plan as both the Grove-based squad and Kubica have struggled.

Williams are bottom of the Constructors’ standings and, although Kubica has picked up their only point to date, he has found himself off the pace of rookie team-mate George Russell both in qualifying and on most race days.

Naturally there are doubts over the 34-year-old veteran’s Formula 1 future.

“I’m starting to think about my future. I am at such an age when reaching December without knowing my future is not comfortable,” Kubica is quoted as saying by powrotroberta.pl during the Verva Street Racing event in Poland.

“One thing I know for sure, I will make a decision that will give me the most joy. For now, however, I don’t know what I will do in 2020, although there are plans, but not everything depends on me.

“The situation is like every year, you have to be patient.”
