The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Costs $52,915

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 officially returns today, on the anniversary of Chuck Yeager’s record-setting flight as the first to break the sound barrier (about 767 mph). The Mach 1 won’t go that fast, unless you strap it to a rocket. The order books are open but check the balance in your checkbook because the Mach 1 will cost $52,915 including destination. To put that in perspective, the base EcoBoost model is about $28K, the GT is about $37K and the Bullitt is about $49,000. The Mach 1 arrives at dealerships this spring.

We know most of the rest of the details: its 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will make 480 hp and 420 lb-ft (like the Bullitt), it will get a six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic, it gets a stiffer steering calibration, stiffer antiroll bars and springs, as well as a new tune for the latest version of its adjustable MagneRide suspension. Base Mustang Mach 1s get 9.5-inch wide wheels in front with 10-inch wide wheels in back, both wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 makes more downforce than the GT with Performance Pack 1, and a ton more when the Handling Pack is added. It also has a longer belly pan that adds to the downforce and increase rear brake cooling.
