Red Bull junior driver Dan Ticktum will contest the 2019 Asian F3 Winter Series in a bid to secure enough points for a Formula 1 superlicence.
The British driver fell short of the points required last season when he finished runner-up to Mick Schumacher in the European Formula 3 Championship.
Ticktum has 32 points out of the 40 required.
“I’m really looking forward to taking part,” said Ticktum, who is part of the Hitech squad. “The main reason is to get my hands on some superlicence points.
“I will however benefit from extra track time over the winter at two prestigious circuits, so overall I am really looking forward to getting started.”
The F3 Asia Winter Series takes place over three race weekends, starting at Buriram in Thailand before moving to the Sepang circuit for the final two weekends.
Each race delivers 10 superlicence points to the winner.
Ticktum, though, won’t be racing in Formula 1 this season having lost out on a Toro Rosso drive to Alex Albon and Daniil Kvyat.
