2022 Mansory DBX Is One Fast and Powerful Aston Martin SUV

You know what’s more fun than sharing a fast ride with someone beside you? Sharing it with five people. And what an experience your friends and family would get in the Mansory Aston Martin DBX. Based off of the 2022 Aston Martin DBX, the German supertuner Mansory, takes it up to 11 with more power, a sculpted body, and interesting lime green accents.

Fitting Five at Over 200 MPH

The DBX is the first, and so far only, SUV from Aston Martin. The company is better known for its sports cars, being the favorite auto manufacturer of a certain British spy, and the Red Bull Racing collaboration sports car known as the Valkyrie. Before it debuted, the only two vehicles that could seat more than two people comfortably were the 1932-34 Le Mans, and the only car with four doors was the 2010-2020 Rapide. Everything else was strictly fitted with a pair of doors and could at most squeeze a pair of kids—or extremely short adults—in the back after they clambered over the front seats.

Aston is saying that there will be a higher-performance version of the DBX, too, the DBX S. However, Mansory decided it was tired of waiting and built their own. The historic German tuner has taken the British marque’s SUV and made it into something that could potentially outrun what’s coming, with a 0-62 mph time of just 3.8 seconds. That means the Mansory DBXis only just slower than the Vantage to 62 mph, by 0.2 second, and only 0.4 second off the DBS Superleggera’s time. It also has a top speed of around 202 mph, making it faster than the Audi RS Q8, Bently Bentayga Speed, and Lamborghini Urus by 12 mph.

With Great Power

There’s only one way to do that in an SUV like the DBX, and that’s with brute power. The original 550 hp twin-turbo V-8 in the DBX was uncorked by the 250 person team of Mansory to produce 800 hp and nearly 738 lb-ft of torque. This increase was accomplished by installing a “completely new engine management system, new and larger turbochargers, a sports air filter and a high-performance sports exhaust system,” according to Mansory. There are also two options in the sports exhaust system, a version that splits the exhaust tips the same as the standard DBX or one that places them in the center of the bumper.

You can’t make more power with the same amount of rubber on the road, so not only did Mansory introduce a new wheel—the DX.5—but also increased the tire size. The 24- by 10-inch front and 24- by 12.5-inch rear wheels are fitted with 295/30 and 355/25 sized tires, respectively. The wheels also feature lime green accents and match the underscoring of the upgraded body.

Sculpted Beauty

Just like the tires, you can’t increase its speed without improving the aerodynamics, either. Mansory took the original DBX design and sought to give this 200 mph-capable SUV the downforce required to keep it stuck to the ground without ruining the original’s beauty. The body also needed to be widened to fit the larger wheel and tire combo.

What you’ll find is a brand new front fascia with an integrated carbon fiber lip with larger, functional cooling opening. This then flows into the expanded front fender flares and leads to a carbon fiber duct behind the front wheel. Down the sides you’ll find a more aggressive side skirts, also made of carbon fiber, and on to the expanded rear fender flares.

The rear bumper features an apron utilizing an integrated diffuser of carbon fiber that allows the exit in the center or as the original DBX exhaust design, depending on the exhaust tip choice by the customer. The hood even sees improvement in its integrated cooling ducts. The Mansory hood is formed from carbon fiber and features larger ducts with the carbon pattern exposed on the inserts. Finally, you’ll find a pair of functional rear spoilers on the Mansory DBX. The roof-mounted and tailgate-mounted spoilers work in tandem with each other and the bumper diffuser to keep the rear tires planted to the ground. Almost all of the aerodynamic parts also feature lime green touches for a drastic contrast to the Black Metallic body and “Forged Carbon” parts.

The Office

Inside, you’ll find black leather and lime green accents on the steering wheel, seats, floor mats, door cards, and dashboard. Everything is also handcrafted from the individually embroidered floor mats to the leather on the seats. To differentiate the lime green touches, there are parts of exposed carbon fiber trim where it strategically made sense to do so.

This DBX may have started as a luxury SUV that was kind of fast from Aston Marton, but Mansory made it into a five-seat sports utility fit for the Autobahn. While we wait for the DBX S, it’s safe to say that it will have a lot to live up to now that we have the Mansory DBX.
