Made-in-India Skoda Kushaq exports commence

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India also commenced exports of the Taigun SUV, while the Virtus sedan exports began last month.

Skoda Kushaq is now the third model based on the MQB-A0-IN platform to be exported from India. Both left-hand and right-hand versions of the Kushaq built at the Chakan plant are being exported to Arab Gulf Cooperation Council countries and a few countries in the Indian subcontinent.

The first lot of export-spec Kushaq LHD models will be sent to the Arab Gulf. Kushaq is also the first Skoda model to be exported from India. Last month production of the LHD version of the SUV began at the Pune facility.

Earlier this year, the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India also commenced exports of the Taigun SUV, while the Virtus sedan exports began last month.

In India, the Kushaq is available with two turbo-petrol engine options. These include a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI unit that makes 113 BHP and 178 Nm and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI that puts out 148 BHP and 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, while the 1.0L engine gets a 6-speed automatic and the 1.5L motor comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
