Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ with 751 BHP unveiled

The AMG EQS 53 is said to be capable of accelerating from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds while having an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off its first fully electric AMG model, the EQS 53 4MATIC+. The new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is now the flagship model in the brand’s EQ range.

The new range-topping EQS variant now comes with dual AMG-specific electric motors – one at each axle. The AMG electric powertrain offers 649 BHP and 950 Nm. However, with the Dynamic Package the power and torque figures are further bumped up to 751 BHP and 1020 Nm – but only in ‘Race Start’ mode. The AMG EQS 53 is also said to be capable of accelerating from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds while having an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 comes with a 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers a maximum range of 586 km (WLTP cycle).

The range-topping electric sedan also comes with a host of AMG-specific components as well. This includes AMG Ride Control+ adaptive air suspension and high-performance AMG brakes with the ceramics offered as optional.

While the overall design remains identical, the AMG version can be differentiated by the chrome elements on the grille, the 21-inch AMG alloy wheels and the larger spoiler at the rear.

On the inside as well, the AMG variant carries forward most of the features. Although, the range-topping trim now comes with an AMG-specific steering wheel, sports pedals, AMG-branded floor mats and plenty of other sporty elements.
