Daniel Ricciardo retracts 'let Pierre Gasly drive it' comments

Daniel Ricciardo has posted a video to say he will see out the last two races of the season with Red Bull.

In Mexico, Ricciardo was on course for his first appearance back on the podium since his victory in Monaco but would suffer his eighth DNF of a massively frustrating season.

Back in the paddock and with emotions running high, Ricciardo said he was “done” and offered to hand the car over to Pierre Gasly, who is replacing the Renault-bound Aussie at the Red Bull next season.

But, after letting the dust settle from Mexico City, Ricciardo has taken some time to reflect on his comments.

“I want to address a few things from Mexico,” Ricciardo said.

“First one first I will be doing the last two races as it is what I am about and I am not about that other life.

“It has been obviously massive highs and lows this year, more lows unfortunately and it has been frustrating I won’t lie.

“But I look to myself and all the guys that work their butts off to give it two more cracks before we see each other off so I will be there.

“I just needed a few days off but it feels good.”
