The dust has all but settled on the Holley LS Fest, which stunned us with its biggest-ever turnout at Beech Bend Raceway this September 7-9, 2018. There was a lot to capture on that beautiful September weekend in Bowling Green, KY, and we had way too much stuff to post at the time, so we saved one of our coolest galleries for later—LS pickup trucks!
Trucks are cool for a lot of reasons—hauling stuff, hauling people, and yes, hauling ass—but they are also relatively inexpensive compared to vintage muscle cars. Moreover, their capacious engine compartments play generous hosts to weekend mechanics everywhere. Seeing as how the LS-platform V8 is the biggest bang for the buck in the powertrian world, it seems as though pickup trucks and LS engines are a match made in heaven for the car crafter on a budget.
At the 2018 Holley LS Fest, we found a range of project trucks, from the most basic thrown-together junkyard parts hauler, to the high-dollar shop-built project—and everything in between. While modified engines and power adders were in strong attendance, there were a surprising number of stock transplants, a fact we attribute to the many helpful support products that have filtered into the aftermarket in the past few years.
If the cost of muscle car performance has gotten you down, this gallery ought to change your mental attitude! We even found a 1978 C-10 for sale in the show car field that we included in the gallery below…
